Atwood Innovation Plaza’s Start-Up “MedLite ID” Announces Major Milestones

MedLite ID announces major milestones commercializing innovative patient-safety solution designed to reduce the risk of medication errors.

MedLite ID is a patented, easy-to-use medical device that attaches to the primary/emergency medication line to improve the efficiency of line tracing and patient care while reducing clinician stress and errors associated with multiple intravenous (IV) infusions.

A study at DSU School of Nursing showed MedLite ID reduces the time it takes to trace the primary/emergency medication IV line by one minute with four lines. With an average of eight lines in an intensive care setting, the time saved would be two minutes per patient, per line tracing. This could reduce a 16-bed unit’s exposure to COVID-19 by up to two hours per 12-hour shift.

MedLite ID recently announced it had signed a distribution agreement with, and received their first substantial order from Veterans Healthcare Supply Solutions (VHSS), a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB). VHSS will have exclusive rights to distribute MedLite ID to all VA, DoD and government medical centers. As an established SDVOSB, VHSS represents many of the healthcare industry’s leading manufacturers, including the market leading IV pump manufacturer, BD— making them the ideal partner to introduce the MedLite ID to military healthcare facilities.

In addition, MedLite ID has been invited to participate in several summits focusing on innovative technologies, including Vizient’s Innovative Technology Exchange. Vizient is the largest member-driven, health care performance improvement company in the country.
