Meet Fancify

Fancify Designs Co., owned by Kilee Allsop, is one of Saint George’s newest custom art businesses. Specializing in “designing and creating custom wood signs, digital illustrations, watercolor portraits and vinyl stickers,” Allsop started her business in January of 2019.

Allsop has enjoyed crafts and DIY projects since she was a child and started making commissions for family and friends. After receiving a fair amount of interest in her work, Allsop decided to start Fancify Designs Co. Allsop adds, “My goal has always been to take one of my passions and create a job/career out of it, and starting Fancify Design Co. does just that.”

Allsop professes the Makerspace has become an irreplaceable tool on her business journey, saying: “Before the Makerspace, I was very limited in the kinds of products I could create in my home. Now with all of the machines and tools I have access to using in the makerspace, I can offer a wider variety of items that are a lot higher quality and look more professionally made. For example, I can now laser cut and make much more detailed wood signs, as well as print my own stickers and labels on the wide format printer.” Allsop estimates that if she had to buy all of the machines she utilizes for her designs, she would need to spend upwards of $50,000.

When asked if she would recommend the Makerspace, Allsop gleefully responded, “With the Makerspace, you have access to equipment that you most likely would not be able to afford to purchase on your own. [The Makerspace] also has classes, instructors, and many other resources that are very helpful and beneficial to anyone who is looking to prototype, start a business, or just expand their knowledge or find a new hobby.”
